Position Statement

The Grafton School District’s human growth and development curriculum will provide accurate information to help students develop the skills to make healthy decisions. The curriculum is designed to encourage self-respect, respect for others, and a positive self-image while respecting a partnership between home and school.

Resources for Parents
Guiding documents for the district's human growth and development curriculum can be accessed via the menu on the left of this page.  These include position and belief statements, sensitive issues statements, and implementation guidelines.  Unit plans for each grade level can also be accessed via this menu.  Full unit materials, including videos, can be previewed onsite at each school building office by contacting either the building principal or teacher.

Per Wisconsin law, parents may request opt-out of any or all of the human growth and development instruction.  Parents will be notified by school principals or teachers about the opt-out process at least two weeks prior to instruction.

The district has also compiled a list of medically accurate resources on human growth and development topics.  These resources are intended to supplement the established curriculum and should not be a substitute for human growth and development instruction in the home and/or school.
