In the FACS department, we prepare the young adult to become a contributing member of society. With the focus on family, work, and careers, we provide information and experiences to lay the foundation for successful life management skills.
The Family and Consumer Science Department has designed our courses to meet the following goals:
- Strengthening the well being of individuals and families across the life span.
- Promoting optimal nutrition and wellness of individuals and families.
- Using critical and creative thinking skills to address problems in diverse family, community and work environments.
- Successful life management, employment, and career development.
- Functioning effectively as providers and consumers of goods and services.
- Appreciating human worth and accepting responsibility for one’s actions and success in family and work life.
- Developing an understanding of children to prepare for parenthood as well as careers in childhood education and teaching.
